Not A Spoof - GOP Wants Disaster Aid Covered By Budget Cuts

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said that if Congress appropriates funds to help disaster stricken areas  like La Crosse and Joplin, Missouri, rebuild  the spending must be offset by cuts elsewhere in the federal budget. He said “if there is support for a supplemental, it would be accompanied by support for having pay-fors to that supplemental."

The financial toll is estimated at around $3 billion.  Without significant aid from somewhere Joplin will simply not be able to recover from a tornado that literally ripped the town in half and is now rated as the single deadliest tornado since modern record-keeping began 60 years ago.
The GOP is also on record recommending satellite funding cuts could halve the accuracy of tornado forecasts and in the process save lives.
We could repeal the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans to cover the costs of helping those who have found themselves affected by natural disasters. We could  even end the Big Oil subsidies. But that will not happen with current mood of the GOP.
